![]() You get a full ride AND A SALARY in school, and then do 6-8 (not sure) years of active duty to pay back your loans. ![]() HPSP is the title of the Army's Health Profession Scholarship Program. You'll want to let them know what you're trying to do and are interested in the HPSP. This is different then the regular army recruiter, AMEDD is for medical only. You're gonna get fucked.įind an AMEDD recruiter. Stop everything you are doing right this second. Honestly everyone saying don't do it.who the fuck are you to tell this person what to do or what not to do? Why are you gatekeeping this person's life? Unless you stay in the military and max that TA out until you get your pre-med bachelor's (perhaps 10-14 years time), your GI bill is only gonna pay a moderate portion of your schooling needs. And tuition assistance will pay something like $3k a year. The GI bill will generally pay only for your bachelor's plus a little extra. You'll pay it off the same as the other doctors in your class. There isnt a huge difference between 250,000 and 350,000 in debt once you are an MD. Therefore, if you are already going to need to take student loans to pay for some of it, why not add in some extra money and do the whole thing. The military is only going to pay a portion of your way through school, unless you stay in for an extra decade maxing your tuition assistance each year. If your honestly dead set on it, I would start going to school full-time plus extra to catch back up. At 26 now, you are at a disadvantage already. Use the report button.īeing real, I would skip the military. Do not answer n00b questions on the main boards.
